Brian Froud.
Is that a Skeksis?
This painting reminds you of a Mystic/ Uru because when Jim Henson saw Froud’s work during the late seventies, he immediately asked him to design The Dark Crystal. This “Troll Witch,” painted in 1976, was published in The Land of Froud, which is one of the two Froud books Henson saw. The other one is Once Upon a Time, which is a collection of works by various fantasy artists acttive during the seventies. Many of the illustrations found in those two books, like this one, were actually meant for a fairytale Brian Froud started but never finished writing.
